Frequently Asked Questions for Wireless Internet

What is wireless internet?

With wireless internet, a signal travels from a tower to an antenna at your home. At MOPC, we use both line-of-sight and non-line-of-sight tech, so even if there are trees, we can still get the signal to you.

Is there a tower near me?

You can view our tower map location here. If you’re still unsure, you can sign up here and one of our team will contact you when it is available in your area.

How fast is it?

Speeds start at 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload. Speeds up to 50Mbps down and 10 Mbps up are available depending on eligibility in your area.

What does it cost?

FirstHome 25/5 plan is $49.99 per month (HST extra).

FirstHome 50/10 plan is $79.99 per month (HST extra).

There is no contract and no data cap. During setup, we'll check your signal strength. You must be able to receive 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload speed to be eligible for the service.

Will rates change?

No. Our council is committed to keeping internet prices affordable and there are no plans to raise them anytime soon.

Can I change to fibre internet after it comes to my area?

Yes! We want residents to have the best service for them. If fiber internet is an option later, you can switch if you want. But you can also stick with your wireless package if you prefer.
